Support BIO Hub to produce low-cost BIO ferments and biochar and activating farmer networks
to scale nature-based carbon removals from the ground up.
We are looking for partners to help scale up a network of artisanal, farmer-led BIO Hubs or Centralised BIO Transformation Units (CBTUs) to produce biochar and other natural soil amendments across Southeast Asia - with a focus on agriculture production landscapes. Backed by Wild Asia and local farmers, each CBTU serves as a hub for farmer training and regenerative innovation. The units can also deliver independently verified carbon removals (C-sink carbon credits which are tradeable globally). Together, these units form the foundation of SPIRAL’s 10-year ambition to achieve 1 Million Tonnes of verified carbon removals under sustainable agriculture, proving that smallholder-led solutions can drive large-scale climate and nature-positive impact.
A BIO Hub or Centralised BIO Transformation Unit (CBTU) is a farmer-led hub that converts organic industrial or farm residues (e.g. EFB, PKS, wood chips) into biochar, compost, and other BIO products. These inputs improve soils, lower chemical dependence, and generate verified carbon removal credits that can be sold. CBTUs:
Turns waste into value (BIO products + carbon credits)
Improves soil health and yields while reducing input costs
Builds your ESG leadership and market credibility
Backed by Wild Asia’s 20+ years in sustainability & smallholder programmes
Methods are rooted in traditional knowledge and collective intelligence than spans 1,000 of years.
Carbon credits are a vital bridge to de-risk and fund this early-stage transformation. The efficacy of biochar alone is not yet widely proven for all soil types—so we’re not just selling a product. We’re building a bio-based ecosystem solution:
Biochar: Converts waste into stable carbon and improves soil structure; acting as a medium for microbial communities to grow.
Bio-ferments & Compost: Enhance microbial activity and nutrient cycling.
Local Extension Teams: Train farmers in holistic, nature-based solutions for long-term soil health and gather evidence-based data to support our methods and continue the innovations.
